Temple Kol Ami Administrator

Under the direction of the Temple Kol Ami board of directors, this part-time position serves many important roles within the Temple Kol Ami community to help us achieve our programming goals. The individual in this role will exercise independent judgment and discretion on important items, including the planning and execution of diverse Temple Kol Ami events. This individual will resourcefully problem-solve, be a welcoming and warm presence for our temple members and larger community, and ensure a positive and welcoming experience for all. 

Responsibilities:

  • Being the point of contact for Temple Kol Ami members and ongoing initiatives/events
  • Responsible for ensuring the sanctuary is set up for scheduled services including moving and setting up the Temple Arc as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the Temple Kol Ami Board of Directors and Committee leaders to effectively produce community events and initiatives
  • Assist the Religious School Director in planning and executing events specifically for our religious school
  • Converse comfortably with members and the wider community in an outgoing, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Motivate and coordinate temple volunteers
  • Ensure timely setup and take down of event venues as well as the effective execution of all elements of the service/event
  • Identify potential logistical challenges and proactively address them through effective problem-solving and the development of contingency plans to handle unexpected issues during events.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs
  • Self-motivated, take pride in their work
  • Team player and have the ability to work well with little or no supervision under pressure.

Time Commitment:

On average, we expect this individual to devote around 10 hours per week during the temple year (August to May) and about half that time over the summer months.  The specific time commitment can vary week-to-week and month-to-month depending on the programming and needs of the temple.

Financial Compensation: The Temple Administrator will be an independent contractor. The contracted pay rate will be in the range of $10k to $12k per year, commensurate with experience.
